I do some of breeding with tractors seems to work fine really depends on how many birds your breeding and how many breeds. Tractors are probably the cheapest. As far as having a wire or screen divider I would not recommend that because I have had roosters with big attitudes spend more time...
This is a new one on me. I live in central minnesota its gets pretty cold here, about -5 now. I keep a lot of birds through the winter never had cold mess with the claws. Just a few questions for ya:
How old are the birds?
Have you kept guineas in the winter before?
What feed are you giving them?
My experience was pretty much the same they stuck with my silkie hen for most of the day but woundered off never found them. Just like silkie ma said grab them as soon as they hatch and put them in a brooder.
