We only have 9 hens and there always seems to be plenty of room on the roost, so I don't think that's a problem. She hasn't always been sleepy, just over the past few months that we've noticed it.

Ok, thank you! That's pretty much what I was thinking. I feel awful that we didn't catch it sooner, but she showed no signs of any problem until it was suddenly severe. :(
