    I just became a chicken mom

    These are the new coops. One is a dog kennel with chicken wire along the bottom about 3-4 inches down and along the sides. The other we bought from Lowe's and put a dog cage around as a secondary defense mechanism. This small coop actually survived the attack with minimal damage.

    I just became a chicken mom

    Back in February, I bought 6 chicks from a feed store in SoCal. They made it two months before a neighbor's dog got loose and killed them. I wasn't keen on getting more chicks, but then a hen started setting and here we are with 6 new chicks.
