We have apx 40 chickens, layers, roosters for meat, some meat birds these are chicks now. and two groups of 5 month pullets
As they grow we cut their wing feathers to keep them out of the garden. They love our broccoli and kale, we do three crops a year.
We also rotate our grass into 5 sections...

I constucted two roll away nests in the rolling coop and two nests under the bushes.
No more broken eggs. It is good to come home to 16 eggs after 3 days away

When my wife and I return to our 1/4 acre farm we find fewer eggs and some with holes peeked in them. At first we believed it was the blue jays but now we find it is one of the RIR chickens. My wife gathers the eggs when still warm when we are home but we are looking for a better way.
