Applied veterecin and clipped feathers. She’s pretty droopy. I gave her syringe of water with electrolyte but she won’t touch mealworms or sunflower seeds which she usually loves. I hope she perks up tonight.
No picture just couldn’t manage. Good soaks and a thorough going over with tweezers. She’s warm and dry in my ‘hen hospital’ while I go to get some veterecin for the wound. 🥺
I thought my chicken was egg bound...waddling, tail down so I put her in a bucket of warm water to soak and these WORMS floated up and wiggled around. Anyone know what they are?
I have Diatomaceous earth I immediately put in all the feed. Local feed store only had zyfend, so I just put that...
Ha ha, mine laid her first egg today, I found it on the poop tray when I pulled it out to clean, too! Found another in a bush near the coop. Looks like they will be spending a little more time in the run and a little less time free ranging.
My GSL just laid her first egg in the nest box today. Got her from the farm store February 28th, so she's about 16.5 weeks. Found another in the yard that is hers too, I htink she laid that yesterday, or the day before.
Thanks for your replies. I'm new, so a bit overwhelmed by all the information out there. I had read there were many different comb types, but I really appreciate the illustration! I'll post pics again later if she still seems questionable.
Yeah, we ended up getting another one and she's doing just fine. I just wish I knew what the cause was. I'd hate to think my inexperience may have missed an obvious solution. Who knows? Maybe there is something BO's are prone to that I'm unaware of. Best of luck to yours.
