    Thank you so much as this info is valuable to me. I know what to watch for. Side note, I went out to look over my new drake and he does have two tail curls! They all share one coop - should we be building another coop and divide the crew now?

    I bag dry leaves for winter enrichment. About 12 to 15 leaf bags worth to keep my chickens active and entertained on very cold or snowy days. Dump a bag of dried leaves in the run with a bit of bird seed and watch them go. Plus, helps keep their nails a bit more trimmed down during the winter.

    One hen has been very vocal lately and with that, she is picking items up off the ground to balance them on her back. What is happening? She is eating, roosting, free ranging just fine.     What treats do you give your chickens?

    They get flax seed and baked crushed egg shells in their feed. As for snack, organic Kale, baby spinach, nectarines, scrambled eggs, baked spaghetti squash or acorn squash, raisins. grapes or cooked oatmeal. Not all of that each day but a bit here or there.

    Anyone else's chickens afraid of snow.

    We had some snow which I shovel a path for them to walk through the yard. Small path since they have an acre to roam but they like the path. Recently we got 6 inches of snow and now they aren't coming out of the run.
