We had one of our Buffs come home with 13 baby chicks on April 12th. She was only 11 months old herself, and the BEST Momma ever. We lost one baby, but still have 8 hens and 4 roosters.

We have 12 "babies" from one of our hens that are 8 weeks old, and three chicks that we purchased that are now 5 weeks old. What is the best way to introduce them to the rest of the flock? We have blocked off an area in the back of the coop where they are currently being housed. We would like...
We had a hen that had wandered off several weeks ago, and would show up every 2-3 days, eat, and take off again. Yesterday, we were surprised when she returned with 13 baby chicks in tow!!
I am positive it happened during the day. We have lost some at night, when we couldn't get them cooped up, and also have seen a hawk have one on the ground, eating only the breast. Because this was in broad daylight, and only the head, I was baffled. I researched predators that take only the...
This afternoon I found one of my Rhode Island Reds laying in the yard with just the head missing. There were minimal feathers around it. Any thoughts on what may have gotten it during the day?
