So black copper marans have so much variety within the breed. The comb and wattles tell you little in this breed. They are notorious for having big combs early in some . The copper should only be in the neck area on pullets. Copper on the wings , chest and tail are cockerel traits

I've lost a few to foxes and Hawks. If you free range it happens unfortunately. It hurts me to have this happen but unless you keep them locked up 24/7 it's a part of having chickens. Sorry for your loss.
I had a hen recently survive a very brutal fox attack recently. I use vetericyin on open wounds. If shocks give electrolytes. Chickens are pretty tough and make sure they are drinking and eating. I have a chicken first aid kit to grab in a hurry if and when something happens.
