Young Cockerel with Merricks - Need Euthanasia Advice

We ended up doing it, and it went as well as it could have. It seemed painless, his eyes were closed even while he was moving after. Thank you for the advice on the situation.

Young Cockerel with Merricks - Need Euthanasia Advice

Thank you for the advice, Do you know if the lopper method would require newer and sharper blades? The only ones that I have on hand at the moment are quite old and rusty but have a large amount of power to them. Would I also need to aim towards his brainstem or would anywhere work?

Young Cockerel with Merricks - Need Euthanasia Advice

It should also be mentioned that I am physically pretty weak and am unsure if I can even do some methods that require raw strength.

Young Cockerel with Merricks - Need Euthanasia Advice

We have a very young, no more than 2-3 months, hand-reared cockerel that we are sure has Merricks. He has all of the symptoms, and we have had chickens in the past with it so we know our flock is contaminated. His health has quickly deteriorated over the past couple of days, including...

    Hey, there!

    Hey, there!

Thank you for all of the lovely comments about my flock! I love all of them so much, pretty much all of them were hand raised from hatchlings or eggs. The one in the second image is named Pickle! She was a late bloomer that was abandoned by her foster turkey momma, so she ended up having a few...

    Hey, there!

Heyo! Teenager poultry raiser here! Decided to finally make an account after lurking on this site for as long as I could remember to make a post in the emergency thread. Right now we have around 30, I think? 4 turkeys, around 12 fully grown chickens, 16 chicks, and a few developing eggs. Would...

Gaping Head Wound in Brooding Turkey - Possible Skull Visible

Alright so I got some pictures and we are going out to fleet farm, but not for many hours. Any medications you can suggest are amazing I also checked in with my sibling who helps to take care of them, they mentioned that they did not see any wounds this morning when they went to check up on them.

Gaping Head Wound in Brooding Turkey - Possible Skull Visible

I have an adult female midget white turkey who has been put in a small coop on our porch separated by the rest of the flock for a few weeks due to her having small (surrogate) chicks that needed to be kept safe. When I went to check on her and the chicks around 20 minutes ago to give her some...
