"At what age do Black Australorps begin to lay their first egg"? ......I wish I knew.
I got my BA 'Kathleen' back in November as a POL....and almost 6 months on still nothing. Her comb and wattle are huge and red and have been for weeks now.

Not as a practice but the subject always fascinates me. I class myself as a non practicing pagan. I don't follow any rituals but I do believe in the fundamentals. Ancient History of any country holds my attention.
One of the ones not laying yet is my Australorp so I'll try to be more patient with her. LOL Although I have noticed her wattle and all around her head is much redder these last 2-3 days so hopefully it means she's ready to go. My New Hampshire is taking her sweet time too.
Happy to report that my 3 girls are laying again and much larger eggs too. Still no idea why my other 2 point of lays I got in November are still not laying though.
l happy to say my 3 girls who 'were' laying and then stopped have started again and I have a fridge full of eggsonce more. And these ones seem to be a lot bigger than before. I still have no idea why my other 2 have not started laying at all yet.
reading this and am a bit relieved myself. I have the same dilema at the moment. 3 of my 5 new chooks have been laying and we;ve been getting 2-3 a day until 4 days ago when I got 1 and then nothing since. They all seem happy and healthy so I will stop worrying for now and wait and see. Might...
