Yikes. I start my hatches with 3 cups of water in the incubator and eventually it gets down to about 25-30% for the balance of the time till lockdown. I boost the humidity starting day 17 to 50-60% and then on up to 75% for day 18 and beyond. You can get a digital thermometer/hygrometer at...
I have 8 frizzle eggs in the bator at the moment. 2 more weeks til hatch. I know at least 1 is infertile and I am questioning 2 others but really good movement in 5 of the 8. Not taking the questionable ones out til I am sure they aren't developing as with the last hatch I had a slow...
No I am sorry to say she lost the fight and I have had a really hard time forgetting about her. She was definitely a fighter. Then I lost 2 more the following day. One from asperating water some how and the other one was suffocated by her brothers and sisters. :(
Mine fought hard for 48 hours and I thought she was doing well and boom- gone. Lesson candle well before cracking eggs open. She was under cooked and should have left her alone. Hard lesson to learn!
I just set 8 frizzle eggs today. I am nursing a chick that's abdomen didn't close and she is fighting like he** to stay alive. Please say a prayer for her. I think she is determined to be here! We are calling her "Baby"!
WARNING-graphic photo!
I'll be putting sizzles in tomorrow. Just finished hatching 12 lavender Orpington chicks but I have one straggler in the bator left. I'll keep you company too!
Did you lay the eggs on the wire mesh on day 18 or are they still in the carton? If you didn't lay them down on day 18, may be why you have a bottom piper. I am just as addicted to this as you.. This is my 3rd hatch with 3 olive eggers, 7 Easter eggers and 2 speckled Sussex eggs. First hatch...
I just water candled all my eggs that are on day 14 in the incubator. I have 2 sinkers. Should I be worried even though light candling shows an active chick. Please don't criticize me for candling- I know the risks. I'm looking for some help please from more experienced people than me. Thanks...
