    Grow out Emu and Ostrich

Has anyone ever tried to grow out ostrich and emu chicks in the same pen? If so, how did it go? I already raise ostrich and I am interested in raising both birds. Just curious if this has been attempted before.

    Raising ostriches in Alberta, Canada

First thing I would do is visit another ostrich farm. You may have already done this, but it is always worth mentioning. You being in Canada you have more resources than we do in the US, use them. First thing I would really like to point out is the fact that you are going to start with a...

    Looking for Ostrich

First thing I will let you know is that about 90% of what you find online will be pretty dated. Also most ostrich farms were started before internet was a "thing" and social media controlled everyone's lives, so finding them online is very difficult. There is a lot of info you are going to...

To Worm or Not to Worm?

There can be harm in worming just to worm, ask goats farmers now. using any medication in excess or when not needed is what is leading to resistance. I would check to see if it is needed, then worm.

    Raising ostriches.

Ostriches are raised all over the US, from arid Arizona, to cold new Jersey, to humid North Carolina. They are very cold hardy and adapt well. As far as I have seen ostriches do not enjoy being confined, or is small spaces at all. I would highly recommend skipping the stable.

My name is Ryan, my wife and I run an ostrich farm in North Carolina. We also have a few chickens and peacocks, but ostrich is the bread and butter :-). We are all about information sharing and learning, feel free to ask us anything and hopefully we learn from each other!

    Ostrich breeders

as for a stable or barn, skip it. Ostriches do not seek shelter in rain or snow. They will look for shade during a hot day. The only purpose for having any shelter is to provide a dry area for feed and laying. They tend to lay near food and where it is dry. If this area is a stable that is...
