I found a couple old windows at my local dump that they didn't mind me taking. i added a little pallet trim so the window appeared to be sitting flush on the wall. I got a bunch of pallets to use for trim so I save money there to buy other hardware or whatever i would need. Collecting is my thing.
i was going to order from mypetchicken.com because they are right here in Ct but shipping cost is $47 and chickens are $62.50. I would go pick them up but according to the website they do not have a store so pick up is unavailable.
I'm not raising RIRs this time. Were I live I cannot have chickens but across town were my mom lives can have chickens. She told me that seeings how she will see the chickens every day she wants to pick them out. So i handed her a chicken book and told her to highlight what she wants. She picked...
i just heard of idealpoultry.com. Has anyone else ordered from them. I got rid of my flock last year. I’m in the process of building a bigger coop. I never mail ordered chicks before and someone told me I needed to get a import permit in Connecticut. I emailed the department of agriculture but...
I have my own hens and I have the opportunity to pick up 7 barred rocks and 2 ameraucanas. They are a year old. I have 6 RIR's. The people just started a family so I guess they're keeping baby, lol. Anyways how well will this work. Do I just add them like "hey, they're living with you now" lol...
Merry Christmas. I'm from Connecticut also. Haven't received eggs in quite awhile. I just recently put a light with a timer so they get around 13 or so hours of light. They are being freeloaders...lol
The light was up just temporary and it did get moved. I do have another question though. I put a timer on it so they get around 13.5 hours or so of light per day. I increased it 30 minutes per day. Anyways, on to my other question, I was talking to a small chicken farmer yesterday and she runs...
Coop size is 6'x4'. The sun starts going down around 3:30-4:00. I put a timer on it set to come on now at 3 am. When I got my chicks I specifically requested no roos.
Today I installed a light inside for more light. I know it should have been done a while ago but that got put on the back burner. Today I actually had some spare time. I cleaned out the coop and put in a light. I have a couple questions: leave on at night for extra light or set timer for early...
They are a little over 1 year old but have never been free ranged at my new apartment (about a month). They have been sleeping in the Coop every night with not one sleeping in the pen.
