    Could be slipped tendon...or???

So...the issue is on his right hock... He hops when he walks. I am not sure if he is suffering, but he has stopped crowing. I first thought joint injury or slipped tendon but not sure.... No, I haven't tried a chicken sling chair.

    Could be slipped tendon...or???

So... it has been almost a month now... His joint looks the same or slightly bigger and feels a bit softer. I don't know if infection is causing it or something else... He can walk but he cannot stretch his leg. I let him go out of the playpen in the afternoon, then the boss rooster chases him...

    Leg injury!

Sorry for taking so long to reply. She is doing fine. I don't know what it was, but she got better and then did it again one more time. The second time, I noticed her limping when I opened the coop door in the morning. She was walking back to normal when I saw her in the afternoon. Maybe a...

    Could be slipped tendon...or???

Thank you. He is spending daytime in a playpen outside where he can be with his friends. I am adding poultry vitamins in the water, but I will do vitamin B complex thank you! Yes, I have kept him in a playpen with bedding, food and water during the day but he roosts on a roosting bar at night. I...

    Could be slipped tendon...or???

My 4.5 years old Speckled Sussex rooster started limping several days ago. I didn't check him well but I assumed it was some kind of leg injury. I keep him in a playpen with food and water to give him a rest during the day, and he sleeps in the coop as usual at night. He is roosting on a...

    Leg injury!

A Partridge Wyandotte bantam hen cannot put weight on her leg and standing on one leg. The bump in the circle in the picture seems to be larger than the other leg and the joint feels a bit bigger than the other one. Is the joint dislocated or is it slipped tendon or...? I applied epsom salt...

    Leg injury or...?

Thanks! I just reviewed the two browns and a Speckled Sussex hen that I posted in the past. I should have updated and report. Both of the browns were the ones that laid lash eggs. One of them started back to normal for a little while, then she passed. It was definitely salpingitis. Melon, the...

    Leg injury or...?

It has been 4 weeks since Mango (ISA brown, four years old, stopped laying about a year ago) has been separated and staying in the house since my daughter found her standing with one leg, and left leg curled. She had mites but I got rid of them. There is no swelling on the ankle and assumed it...

    Molting chicken is breathing heavy

Thanks! I gave her water with electrolyte and vitamins, scrambled eggs, kale and layer mash. She is eating a lot and looks more comfortable. She has no water belly and I didn't see any mites but treated her for mites just in case. She is about 1.5 years old. She lays eggs but since the sunrise...

    Molting chicken is breathing heavy

My Rhode Island Red bantam hen is going through a hard molt. She is covered in pin feathers and her skin is quite visible. She was in the coop probably all day today, probably trying to keep warm. She sneezed a few times and she didn't look well, so I brought her in. I gave her cat food and...

Is this a prolapsed vent? What do I do?

I was hoping to hear from people but didn't, but she is better! I kept her isolated for three days. I kept her butt clean and applied antibiotic ointment (without pain relief), Preparation H and vaseline on the prolapsed area to keep it moist. The dead tissue peeled off. I pushed back in a few...
