I have a few chickens in my flock that look just like the photo above. Bought them as chicks from Tractor Supply several years ago. The clerk told us they are called Buffington chickens. They are calm/docile and lay brown eggs.
I'm not sure the clerk at Tractor Supply knew what breed the dark...
