    BYC members in Massachusetts?

I’m in Concord and need to rehome a Partridge Penedesenca cockerel. He is almost 4 months old and from Meyer Hatchery. Let me know if you’re interested. I can meet you somewhere in the middle. Thanks!

Can anyone guess this bantam breed?

Thanks for the replies! I hope it's a pullet and I would love an EE bantam. I was thinking maybe a cornish bantam (blue laced red or white laced red) would be another possibility, like the ones from Ideal Poultry.

Can anyone guess this bantam breed?

I picked up 5 chicks from a bantam mix at our local feed store. They are about 13 days old. Four are old English game bantams and I’m not sure about this one. (It came with an eye issue that I was hoping to sort out with antibiotic eye ointment. I’m beginning to think it’s a deformity and not an...

Brooder accident with first batch of meat chickens

Ah, this is a good idea. I have a zippered pillowcase I can use. The back is open, it’s less like a cave and more like a tunnel with room to get in or out either way. Thanks so much!

Brooder accident with first batch of meat chickens

This is my first attempt at raising meat birds and they arrived on Wednesday this week. I’ve been raising layers for about 4 years and felt competent enough to at least get this batch of 15 rainbow rangers to slaughter age. I have a mama heating pad setup that I’ve used many times before without...

Looking for help identifying bantam breed

Thanks for your replies! Sorry I meant to post more pics before. I wonder if there could be silkie in the mix because of the black skin and feathered legs. These are suppose to be bantams. One of the other chicks I have looks like a Golden Sebright. That one and this black mix are very petite.

Looking for help identifying bantam breed

Hi, I got three bantam chicks from a local person and I’m not sure of the breed for this little one. They are about 1.5-2 weeks old and hatched from shipped eggs. That’s all the information I have. This little black bantam has feathered legs and, I think, a pea comb. And some color on the wing...

I haven’t called Erikson’s, but that’s a great idea. Thanks so much for the suggestion! 😊

    BYC members in Massachusetts?

Would anyone like a pair of Welsh Harlequins? She hasn’t started laying yet, but should be any day now. They hatched in August 2019. They are driving my husband crazy with the quacking in the morning outside our bedroom window. 😊 I’m happy to meet somewhere (I’m in Concord) and do a social...

    Magnificent Marvelous Muscovies!

I am a new Muscovy keeper and thought I would share photos of my new ducklings. The littles are 10 days old and so cute and friendly. The older juveniles I got when they were 3-4 weeks old. They always walk away from me if I get too close. I don’t think they like being photographed. I think I...

    Muscovy Sexing

Thank you! I love watching them. So different from the chickens. I think I might just favor ducks.

    Muscovy Sexing

Hi, I have four Muscovy ducklings, about 9-10 weeks old, and I’m wondering if anyone can tell males from females from these photos. The lightest duckling has always been behind developmentally compared to the others. The woman I got them from said they were 3-4 weeks old when I picked them up in...

    Heat for Muscovy Ducklings?

This is so helpful! I have a blanket covering most of the crate now and they have a box with pine shavings inside. They’re in a quiet room and we’re going to give them plenty of space for a while. And a heating pad is set up if they want some extra warmth. I appreciate the helpful advice.
