I’ve been dealing with this as well with my hens and my rooster. I put plastic sheeting around their flyways to cut down on the below freezing windchills and they’re still getting it. I even keep their water out of the coop at night. I feel so bad they’re getting it no matter what I’m doing
Side note he’s still mad at the girls hahaha he kicks at the fencing in between them every single day like he can kick them or something it’s funny but I didn’t want to get rid of him I’ve had him since he was a little chick
the
the only thing I had to for sure do was build like a rooster condo off the main coop because my 4.5 month old rooster will not accept the new girls since he’s protective of the girls he grew up with. He can see them through the flyway but can’t attack anyone
I introduced them along the flyway for a week and a half. I finally braved mixing them and all in all it’s been fine except 2 bullies, I separate the bullies along the flyway for 2 days at a time during the day till they finally figure out how to quite being bullies hahaha but all in all there...
Lol it’s two of the newbies that are the bullies. My newbies are older than mine. Mine are about 4.5 months and the newbies are around a year old. I picked up 6 and only 2 of them are being full on bullies the other 4 do the normal peck here and there that’s it
What are chicken glasses?
I put them in the coop last night with everyone but then once they were all let out this morning (I had the bullies separated for 2 days) they went right back to it
The one straight up yanks a mouth full of feathers when she can. The other like grabbed the beak of another girl who was also trying to eat.
I told them they need to figure out their bullying issues or they’ll remain in their own cage during the day everyday till they figure out how to not be a...
Lol this time it’s the new chickens that are taking over and keeping the younger ones from being where they want to be. Luckily a few of my younger girls are getting close to laying their combs are getting bigger and redder quickly and they’re starting to make more noises like the older girls
After a week and a half of introducing my new one year old hens to my 4.5 month old bends through fencing I finally braved the introduction process. I had to put 2 older ones in a small cage to themselves for excessively bullying. One was pulling a beak full of feathers, and the other was also...
He’s a bit over 4 months old and he is getting a lot of new feathers could this be why he’s pulling spots of his feathers out?
i was checking some of his skin areas and there doesn’t seem to be mites or anything
He’s starting to use his feet and stuff too so we’re going to build him like a bachelor pad off of the main coop so he can’t hurt anyone and i won’t have to get rid of him.
lol he bit me today for the first time while I was trying to round up the girls. Introducing the new hens to all the other...
I’m in somewhat the same boat. I picked up 6 year old hens and ive been trying to coax them into the coop into like a large dog crate since I’m still in the introducing process. It decided to get cold the last couple night and they start to go in, hear my rooster make a bunch of noise and run...
