Egg bound and a little bulge

Thank you all for helping me! Suzzie laid her first egg today! It’s so tiny, but we usually buy large eggs.

Egg bound and a little bulge

Not the best picture of her vent, but I believe that’s the bulge I felt. Is that bulge normal, that area didn’t seem to look bad at all. Last night she wouldn’t eat her tums. I crushed some up with some food and she only ate a couple of bites. This morning no egg, but she looked good and her...

Egg bound and a little bulge

I have some powder calcium carbonate and I also have tums. Which would be better and how much? No photo and it did feel like it went back in, then out again.

Egg bound and a little bulge

i believe my 20 week hen is trying to lay her first egg and she’s egg bound. I soaked her in an epson salt bath for 20 minutes and then used olive oil around her vent. She’s in a dark crate resting now. While I was putting the olive oil on her vent, there was a small bulge, maybe a 1/4-1/2”...

I junked up my yard! lol!

Yes, my chickens finally went in the water tray! I gave them a 1/2 of a boiled egg to share and they flung it everywhere! Some got into their water tray and they went in! Lol!

    Fresh herbs

Thank you. I read on Lavedar a few different times and I won’t feed them it. Says it’s toxic to small animals if eaten. It does say I can add to nest boxes, dust baths or hang in coop. I planted it close to their nest boxes, where they can’t get to it, maybe I’ll just let it grow and not add it...

    Fresh herbs

How do you use your fresh herbs(for laying live hens Lol!)? I read about grow herbs for chickens and about two weeks ago I planted a lot of different types. I just picked about two cups total of fresh rosemary, thyme, oregano, spearmint, peppermint, lavender and I was thinking of adding them to...

I junked up my yard! lol!

Thanks. It’s not deep at all, I’ll put some rocks in there so they can see it isn’t deep. Thank you.

    Pyrethrum daisies

Does anyone else do this? I’m considering planting this type of daisies against the chicken run.

I junked up my yard! lol!

I bought some netting so my chickens can go outside in a larger area. I figured I would just roll it up after they had a couple hours each day, but after doing that once, that’s a no go for me! And the dogs wanted what the chickens left behind! 🤢 I used what I had on hand and I even got a few...

    Mealworm Farm

Yeah, I never thought I would be raising mealworms! lol! It’s not as bad as I thought and I can even pick them up with my hands, but honestly I would prefer to use the plastic spoon than my hands! lol!

    Mealworm Farm

We started a mealworm farm a few weeks ago and we got our first pupa’s, there’s about a dozen. My son kept getting mad at me because I would take the mealworms were are farming and feeding to the chickens! lol! We probably would have had more, but I couldn’t help but fed my chickens the...

Grit and oyster shell dishes :)

They come in different sizes too! I also like how the dish part will come off for easy cleaning, there’s no need to unscrew the whole unit :)

Are my chicks looking to nest?

The nest mats come some time today and I just shopped around for the oyster shell dish, I had a make shift dish for their grit, but these dishes are perfect for my 5 hens. I do have some hay, maybe I’ll use that and then add the mats tomorrow? Yes, exciting! They’re getting so big🥰
