    Australorp or some other black chicken?

    Hello, I aquirred a hen 6-7 years old. By description she looks like a Australorp except a few feathers at the base of her head are slightly brown. I am not sure a picture would show the color, but I will try on a later post. Any ideas... I have looked at Black sex link, she is mostly black...

    Hello, I think my chickens have scaly leg mites. I see the more common treatment is to apply oil to the legs and feet. It is winter here, might that chill them too much to have oil wet legs?? What should I do? Thank you Stacey

    Hello, I have looked, it sounds difficult to get rid of. Some of the treatments suggest washing the legs and applying vasaline? It is cold here in Michigan, is that something I should be able to do now? Thank you Stacey

    Hello, After reading some comments here about chicken legs. I started looking closer at my birds, I have noticed a couple have what looks like raise scales and a couple birds have powdery white looking growths on their feet. Could it be mites??? Thank you Stacey
