Not aware of anyone raising ducks. I'm thinking it's been abandoned after the fluffy duckling stage by an irresponsible pet owner. It's OK to have it here. No duck specific Rescues, and others I've found aren't taking wildfowl because of the avian flu. This bird can fly, not sure how far. BUT...
It's very friendly. Stays close, follows. Head bobs. Doesn't want to be touched but nibbled on my painted toenails! Now caged and doesn't seem to mind.
This sweet duck came to our porch steps yesterday here in Southern Wisconsin. I can't identify it. Torn between Mallard and Rouen. It must be young - it's only about a foot in length. It's obviously been caged before. Looking for owner, but it seems likely that I'll need to find it a good home...
