I have some baby serama, and this little guy has different feathers than the rest. Is this what frizzle looks like? Or does he just different stringy young feathers?
These guys are so cute!

She's the only adult hen in there. She's in a coop with her roo and 4 younger unrelated silkies, and none of them even go inside the nesting area (and not old enough to be laying or sexed yet). We haven't had any broken eggs when she was laying.
That sounds like a good plan! Thank you!
Howdy folks! I hope I can get some opinions!
I just got 18 Serama eggs in. Nine of them have good looking air cells, 2 are slightly loose, and 6 are detached/rolling/loose.
I have a Silkie who went broody for the first time a few days ago, and a bator that has been priming this last week...
i ordered some serama hatching eggs.
I have inculcated before, hatching 8 out of 12 shipped Delawares, but had no luck at all hatching shipped Silkie eggs. So needless to say, I'm a bit nervous with these Seramas, but I just have to try!
My eggs should be here Thursday or Friday, and I have the...
Yesterday I noticed one of our 3 month old silkies was contorted. It was stumbling around and making some pathetic peeping sounds. First glance I thought broken neck? Seizure??
We were in the middle of a project and I got it out of the pen and into a box in the garage until I could get to a...
Howdy! I'm a chicken-newbie from Brackettville, between Uvalde & Del Rio. I just had my first hatch and out of 16 shipped Delawares, 10 made it to lock down and 8 hatched! They're all healthy as can be and doing great. I also had 12 Silkies, but none of them made it. I suspect incubator...
When approaching hatching time, do you pull the thermometer probe out of the water-weenie to measure air temp instead at lock down? My thought process was that since the air temp would be higher than the internal egg temp, it made me wonder if it would be too hot for the chicks.
I had my egg turner plugged into a cheap dollar store surge protector. It would not turn. I plugged it into a decent quality 3-prong extension cord and it worked like a charm. It also functioned fine on a heavy duty surge protector. You'll just have to find a quality cord/surge protector it...
Oh we are having a ball with them!
My mom suggested we name them Vanilla and Bluebell.
My hubby keeps calling out "Rubber Duckies" at them and that gets their attention.
I'm personally getting to know their personalities and eventually names will pop up!
Come Christmas time we may be adding a...

I could only get two at that time, so that's what I did. Now I know where to get ducks near us so if something were to happen - which I pray doesn't - we'll be able to get a friend quickly without a costly min order charge - BUT, I'm going to town today so I am thinking I may just go a...
