Yeah I brought his house from his outside pen in with him last night and he has been much more settled in that. I will probably get my partner to build him something bigger for inside so that we don’t have to carry it back and forth. I just wanted to check he wasn’t going to be able to sleep...
Thank you, I’ve brought him in for the night, I’ll carrying on bringing him in on a night for a while longer until he’s feathered. I thought because of his sudden growth spurt he’d be ok but when I went out not long after I posted and decided it just isn’t warm enough for him yet.
Well he was a...
So my duckling is 5 and a half weeks old, his feathers are only just starting to come through but he’s turning white and seems to be fluffing out a lot. he’s been outside everyday for the last week now and only come in to sleep. Last night we brought him in to sleep but he couldn’t get comfy in...
@Isaac 0 The vet didn’t really know to be honest (they rarely see ducks) but said to just give it to him in case it is any kind of deficiency. So I’m really just going off the advice on here too. Sorry it was supposed to attach on my last message
Thanks all. I think it was an intestine blockage - I went to check this morning and he was the liveliest he’s been in 6 days, his poo had a round clump of food in it, then the following ones contained various other bits he was fed earlier in the week so poor thing must have been so...
@Isaac 0 please can you help or direct me to someone that can? How much of this should I be administering to my 4 week old crested duckling And how often? He’s had a couple of seizures in the last week 😔 as per the vets advice I started him on this on Monday and been giving half a tablet in his...
Been to the vet to get some antibiotics. I don’t think it’s his crop, and the vet didn’t seem to either. lots of noises coming from him (tummy rumbling). He’s now got antibiotic and niacin supplement in his water, a small selection of foods on a plate, I’ve given him some olive oil, I’ve given...
How do I check this? Everything I find on google is for chickens or adult ducks. Is there any harm in trying antibiotics in case of infection even if I can’t be sure that’s what it is?
Hi,
so my 4 week old crested duckling has been under the weather since Saturday now. I posted previously and received advice on niacin and grit - both of which I’ve since given him. But after further internet searching and observing I think it may be a digestive issue. He’s lethargic, standing...
So I checked with my vet and she said to crush up one of the tablets I had into his water. I did that yesterday and he seemed to drink enough of it, I’ve also given him some grit. He’s going through spells of being lively to being very sluggish and quiet. I guess I just have to wait and see now...
He seems to have perked up in the last hour - looks less uncomfortable and is walking around more. Still want to make sure he’s getting everything he needs though! This is the ingredients
Yeah only since he’s been poorly, before that they looked what I would consider normal.
I have vitamin b complex in my cupboard - would this be suitable for him? They’re tablets so I’d have to crush it and add to his water. if not I can probably get hold of some from the vets tomorrow.
