    Help! Sick chicks.

We had 12 chicks. Two died about a week apart and more are acting strangely. They stand around with their feathers puffed out and my daughter said that most of them are vomiting. They are with their mother and the rest of the flock. I am not sure how old they are. 4 weeks maybe. I was...

Possibly egg bound, not sure. Help

UPDATE: Sunny died this morning. She was still alive when I woke up. She was laying down. I checked again for a possible stuck egg. Nothing. She definitely felt warmer than yesterday. I went inside to mix up some electrolytes. I came back outside and my son who had been watching her said that...

I think this is normal ... but figured I should ask.

My son alerted me to the fact that there was HUGE piece of chicken poo in the coop so I went to go check it out. OMG, this thing was so big, it was about as big around as an egg and twice as long. It was bigger than what my dog produces. Other than the size, it looked perfectly normal. Is the a...

Necropsy results, is not coryza or CRD--parasites are rampant!!!

Dawg, thanks! Our soil is hot and dry in the summer, and wetter in the winter, but not too cold. It doesn't get below freezing every night or anything. Here it is the end of November, and we still have flies and mosquitoes around. Can I just use sand from the river or should I buy sand from a...

Necropsy results, is not coryza or CRD--parasites are rampant!!!

Wow. I have 4 chickens and two of them have just started laying. They are 21 weeks old. I was thinking I should go ahead and worm them now before they are really in a routine and I don't lose too many eggs. (I won't be eating the eggs, I'm pregnant so I'm not risking anything there.) Also, I...

Chicken just started laying, what to feed now?

Yeah, I forgot about the egg shells. I could do that. It would be cheaper for sure. They get table scraps, but not every day.

Chicken just started laying, what to feed now?

We don't have any roosters, so we won't be hatching any chicks. So that's not a worry. I just didn't know if layer feed had enough calcium in it or not.

Chicken just started laying, what to feed now?

We have 4 hens, three wyandottes and one brahma. One of the wyandottes laid her first egg today, at 20 weeks old. They are being fed start and grow unmedicated right now and I have about 20 or so pounds of that left. What do I need to do now? Mix a layer feed with what I have left? Get oyster...

Planting vines around an enclosed run?

I am in zone 8a I believe. I used to have a great perennial flowering vine but it attracted caterpillars like crazy .... and I don't like caterpillars. It spread like crazy though .... so maybe I could plant that one again. It had a really great purple flower on it and smelled amazing.
