Broody hen killed newly hatched chick?

I've decided some chickens are just a little too primal. Or stressed. Mine is stressed. I think the roo is bullying her.

Broody hen killed newly hatched chick?

I took all but one away. I had a friend with a nice broody who hatched them. But with only one egg left she kept wandering off the nest so the egg wasn't viable. Once I took that she's been acting a little crazy/confused. I just found her today eating an egg which she had never done before this...

Broody hen killed newly hatched chick?

I have a buff Orpington that just killed her newly hatched chick this am. So sad. Poor little thing was just laying there dead. I removed it but I'm scared for the other 2 that are left. Do I move them now or wait to see if she kills them too? So disappointed.

    Fertile eggs disappearing

I have a broody mama sitting on 7 eggs. They are due to hatch soon-this is day 19. I went out to refresh her water and food-there are now only 6 eggs and no sign that there was ever a 7th. I didn't separate her from the rest of the flock in time. So I don't know who is killing the eggs. I have 1...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi :) I have a beautiful, healthy buff Orpington rooster that I need to find a home for him. He's a year old. My 5 hens aren't enough to keep him busy. So he is available. Let me know if you're interested.

    TULSA area Cluckers

Question...one of my girls laid an egg today-it was still warm when I collected it but had a small crack on the top-because she kicked most of the bedding out of the nest box. Is it still edible? I immediately refrigerated it.

Prevention of COCCIDIOSIS and other poultry diseases in chicks~ ACV.

i wouldn't give acv while using corid either. Corid worked very well for my birds. 3 of them got very sick and I was sure 1 was at death's door-it took a month but she is very healthy now.

16 week Buff Orpington Cockerel or Pullet???

Sooo did Princess buttercup end up being a prince? I was on the fence about one of my BO. I have 2-one is very obviously a pullet but the other one...well I was unsure until this morning when he mounted one of my other hens. I'd say that's sufficient evidence. lol He doesn't have those tail...

I'm so sorry you lost your hen....I had a young pullet get really curled up feet and found out she had coccidiosis. She was so weak she could barely move and would tip over. She never had the bloody stools. She looked mangy too. A round of corid and then yogurt after took care of it but it took...

I get my organic feed at Grogg's Green Barn over on 61st and 169. They are reasonably priced compared to anything I've seen online. I would call first to make sure they have it in stock-they seem to go through it pretty fast but are great at taking an order over the phone and holding it for you...

Oh fun! I'm in tulsa too. Does anyone know the specifics on whether or not roosters are allowed? Just in case one of my pullets is a boy :)
