I don't know if anyone ever checked that for sure. I do know that they weren't very hardy and would often just up and die. I think if someone really wanted to they could recreate them by crossing to a silkie feathered breed and then carefully selecting offspring with the best Ameraucana traits...
Hey all, just checking in ^_^ Been hatching and gardening a bunch lately. My beds are almost all weeded, and I've got leeks planted, I'll get my strawberries in tomorrow I believe.
I'm over run with chicks now lol, I have a bunch of chocolate/mauve/blue/black Easter Eggers from my chocolate...
Those almost look like self blue (lavender) ameraucana. Most splash chicks have some form of splashing early on, given the uniform coloring of those babies and the lack of any splashes, I'd say she didn't get splash ameraucana, but got self blue(lavender). She can look at the breeder directory...
I am so over the rain, we got dumped on at a cookie booth we were running and had to shut the thing down. At least girl scout cookie season is almost over. Once it finishes up then I'm going to be working on building a brooder and setting my eggs ^_^

She looks mostly blue or black, she'll probably have a small beard and muffs. She might end up being brown and speckled though. Post more pics when she is a few weeks old. :)
I promise you, those are not true Ameraucanas. I'm sorry the hatchery is misleading you and other customers with false information.

If she's an ameraucana she would have been sold with the variety listed. If you got her from a feed store or a seller that didn't advertise the variety, you likely ended up with an easter egger chick. It's a common error, especially when people call easter eggers Americanas/Americaunas or some...
