    First time broody hen

Ok so I have my very first broody hen. She’s been sitting for a few days now. She’s a dark Brahma that’s a little over a year old. We have a bantam rooster that we know for sure of and we had an Easter egg we rooster that we got rid of about 2 and a half weeks ago. Is it possible for the eggs...

    Is her leg broken?

She’s doing much better. Putting weight on her leg and trying to jump out of the tub when she gets her baths. During the day when it’s nice I put her outside in our large dog kennel without the bottom tray so she can enjoy the outdoors and move a bit more without getting picked on by the older...

    Is her leg broken?

Thanks for the replies! The swelling got worse but has gone WAY down today. She’s standing and moving around a bit more, and she curls her toes when I touch them now so I think she just needed some time off of it. She is inside in a kennel with food and water so she can recuperate and relax. I...

    Is her leg broken?

This is Marshmallow, she was coming in last night and I noticed she was hopping and then just stopped and laid down. Her leg was a little swollen yesterday but today is a lot worse. She was in our neighbors yard where she doesn’t usually go so I’m not sure what she could have gotten into. She...

What to use for dust bath?

I just find the holes they’ve decided on and add some Diatomaceous earth and shavings or ashes to them. Anytime I’ve tried to make a specific spot for it they ignore them.

Time of day chickens lay eggs?

We let ours out in the mornings and they just come back to the boxes to lay eggs when they’re ready. They have to take turns because only two of the nesting boxes are acceptable for use :barnie

    WHO DEM BABIES IS!

She got her name cause her toes are twisted but they don’t seem to bother her. My husband calls her Torpedo sometimes cause of how she looks when she runs :)
