I have 3 poults in my brooder. They are all 5.5 weeks but huge differences in size. The biggest is definitely a male... I am hoping the other 2 are female. What do you think?
large turkey - hard to see in picture but snood is developing and prominent.
medium and small turkeys - snoods are...
Little guy is now 5.5 weeks old. I moved all my birds into a bigger brooder in the garage. He/She is still the smallest. Little guy is attached to the hip of one of the other mille pullets. I have 5 milles and 2 are male and 2 females. Little guy still has me stumped on gender.
All of our little guys gave grown out of it, luckily out of 25 chicks we only lost 3 this year. 2 losses were not in association with pasty butt. Sorry to hear your baby didn't make it. So heartbreaking.
So we have moved the d'uccles and yokohamas to their own brooder. To try to help our little guy I have given a more concentrated water with probiotic, vitamin and electrolytes. Boiled some eggs this morning and mushed up a few yolks. I hope this works. Praying little guy shows some improvement.
Thanks for the thoughts. The vitamin I am giving now is rooster booster, given as directed on the package. I have both the powder and liquid. I think I will separate the little guy from the rest and see if that helps him. I hesitate to cull as the kids have grown attched and are rooting for...
Here are some better pictures of our little guy.
I have turkey poults, barred Plymouth Rock, EE pullets, and red shoulder yokohamas in with our mille fluer d'uccles. We're thinking about putting the bantams in their own brooder?
He isn't being bullied that I have seen. I have 22 total chicks in the brooder this year. He is slow, but does eat and drink. What worries me is he may get pushed over and will flop on the ground until I pick him up and put him back on his feet. I have been giving egg yolk, yogurt and...
This is our first year raising bantams. We have 5 total, 4 are going normal but 1 is not developing. They are about 2 weeks old but little guy still looks like a few days old... size wise. Feathers are coming in. Has anyone seen this before?
The yogurt didn't help. I have reserved myself to cleaning chicken butts almost every day for now. They will out grow it eventually. My little guy is still hanging in, but is weaker than the rest.
Question on the probiotics... I can go to the store for regular plain yogurt, but I already have Cool+ Plain. Can I use this instead of regular yogurt? This is our 3rd season getting chicks, but this year we are having the hardest time with pasty rear ends. We normally get full size chicks...
