Help! My Chicks Are Afraid of the Dark!

I just tried the tough love route, but I ended up caving in to their cries. All our chicks are 9 weeks old, and we had our first 80 degree day today, so I figured it was a good time to cut them off from the 250 watt red lamp. I never heard them peeping so much and so loud as they did tonight...

Please help me understand meat eaters not wanting to process a chicken!

Exactly! Ive thought the same thing before about people having to earn the right! If you can kill it, then you can eat it.

Please help me understand meat eaters not wanting to process a chicken!

I would like to weigh in on this! I am actually a very strict vegetarian (vegan when I go out). I never eat meat or dairy, but I will eat eggs from hens that I actually know. In other words, I only eat eggs from home. When I first decided to become vegan, it was on principle to boycott factory...

New chick has a bulge on its face :(

Im definitely not a professional, but ive seen on this forum somewhere that someone needed to drain fluid, and they iced it first to make it more numb. If you do that i would probably use a very small sterilized needle. Neosporin is good for preventing further infection, but make sure that it is...

New chick has a bulge on its face :(

It Depends on where it is located and what it is. I would say first and foremost, separate the chick from the others. Chicks have a horrible habit at pecking at unknown things even if it is another chick's face. Sadly, I just lost a chick this morning from some eye pecking that turned to...

Help for my baby chick's eye...it's pecked and swollen shut (photos)!

Well we tried our best to keep her alive, but I think having such a large infected wound at such a young age, she just couldn't endure it. She passed away last night. It's always hard to lose an animal that you put so much of yourself into trying to save them. R.I.P little trixie

Help for my baby chick's eye...it's pecked and swollen shut (photos)!

I watched her for a bit today, and it seems that it is irritating her so she keeps scratching at it. Is there a way to stop her from doing that? mini eye-patch, leg splints, cones like dogs and cats get? Any ideas?

Help for my baby chick's eye...it's pecked and swollen shut (photos)!

We have a 3 day old chick that started with a small scab on her top eyelid but she was still able to open her eye a little bit. She was the smallest chick so she was getting trampled and pecked at, so we separated her with 1 other small chick who was getting pecked at. After the first night when...
