I have a 2 month old with a slow crop AND she has been diagnosed with Coccidia as of yesterday. Her crop was soft and squishy yesterday morning which prompted a separation that queued finding several bloody poops. We have her on Corid, I puked her this morning after reading this article, but not...
Okay makes me feel a little bit better to think that we didn't bring it home somehow so thank you.
We've looked up the dosages for liquid corid and we'll just keep them on the five-day preventative just in case. I'm going to separate the worst from the flock and the chicks with her and treat...
We went to a sale barn about a week ago and some people did have chickens there, I'm worried that it could have possibly have come from there..... I've never had a bird be diagnosed with it so I'm not sure how to handle it, luckily I had corid on hand just in case.
I'd like to dose them anyway...
We have some adults in the same area as them, they're in separate pens, but they're all only about three feet apart... I'm more worried about shoes or clothing or anything like that having it on it that we may have carried it to the ones in the big separate coop.... Would it hurt them if we went...
Our two month old chicks have been eating medicated chick starter since we got them at 2 days old.
Today one of them started acting lethargic, broody, and was pooping blood so we took them to the vet and it was confirmed she has coccidia. It's not a very severe case, apparently we caught it...
New to Silkies
I've fawned over Silkies for years, I fell in love with their fluffy bodies and their delightful temperament the moment I saw my first one. I took the plunge after years of waiting and many years of raising several breeds of chickens.
I purchased 5 Silkie chicks from RK on May...
I'd rather think that than disease, I guess. I'm definitely helicopter parenting the rest now... Is there anything I should do? Theyve got access to electrolyte water, fresh water, and their food is medicated...
Newspapers, we had pine at first, but they were sneezing, I assume from the dust, so I replaced it just incase. We change it out every other day.
Everyone else is perfectly fine. They're far more active than she ever really was....
We're cleaning everything now. Since she's so small could it...
She just passed away. It was the black one. I've wanted Silkies for so long and finally got these now I'm scared it could be something bad. Google just has me freaked out.
I have a video but I don't use YouTube to share a link. Her breathing was open beaked, and her whole body pulsed with each...
I bought 5 Silkie chicks from Rural King May 1st, all have been fine, eating, drinking, playing, ect.
However this one hasn't grown at all, and is now showing signs of heavy, opened beak breathing. I've given her egg yolks and electrolytes. She was eating fine but has now taken to just lying...
Thank you! I worry about him getting pasty butt with the occasional diarrhea he's been having. My wife says that so far today though he has had at least one solid poop. We just keep having to wipe his butt after as it sticks to his feathers.
