She's a bantam. I've looked up photos of a few breeds like her but the ones that resemble her the most are Welsummers. OEGB were also a possibility but they seem to have longer legs?
So I posted in late April when she was just about 4 weeks. I adopted her on April 1st, so she's about 14 weeks now!
She's just the cuddliest bantie I've ever been around. I love taking her around to meet other people and everyone falls in love with her! I'd just like to be able to tell people...
But then again, she also looks like a black breasted red chick as well.
O: The possibilities!!
I'll just jot these all down to a list of possible breeds, then compare when she's grown.
This has definitely helped.
I'll keep that one in mind! That's one that I've never heard of. But all of the chick pictures look exactly like him.
Nice eye!
Oh, forgot to add that there's no beard, hdowden.
I accidentally hit 5 instead of 4, I've had the chicks since April 1st and was told the bantams were 5 days old. So it's almost 4 weeks.. Sorry about that.
The comb looks to be a straight comb, not sure if it's done developing though.
Are glw's common then? I guess I just don't know much of...
Haha, I'd be shocked something outrageous if she turns out to be a gold-laced Wyandotte! They're so pretty, but I wouldn't expect that from a mixed bin of TSC chicks.
Thanks 4-H Mom, I don't think I'll mind whichever sex s/he turns out to be. Bantam roos are the absolute cutest.
Well thank you!
I bought her and another bantam together, but sadly the other one died. We have 4 more chicks that will live in the coop we're gonna build. Bukowski is going to be a house pet, since I'm moving away soon. If only my parents approved. Hahaha.
This is Bukowski. Hoping for a pullet, but was from a bin at TSC marked straight run.
I was thinking Easter Egger, but I thought those have green-grey legs..? I was attached when I saw that she looked like a chipmunk, on the head and under the wings. I don't really mind what breed she is...
I didn't think it'd be unwise to house larger chicks with my bantams. The 2 bantams and 4 larger chicks all got along, no pecking, no quarreling. They are free fed, so there's no fighting over food. I just woke up this morning and checked on my chicks as usual, and there was poor Despereaux...
I have one like that too. Was it labeled as a red pullet?
I'm thinking mine is either a sex link or other red breed. I'm just a beginner and don't know lots of chicken breeds, best bet is to see what it looks like when it grows up.
