Rooster sent to "Death Row" - now Coc au vin!

I don't mind doing the deed, I've dispatched many birds before for others but this would be the first of my own flock, but after the torment my girls have been through, I'm ready to see this guy deep fried with a side of hotwing sauce! I will give the feathers to a local fisherman to tie his...

Rooster sent to "Death Row" - now Coc au vin!

This is our first roo, I don't mind making him into nuggets stinks though, he is so pretty and was a good protector, but I agree about his behavior being an issue, I will not risk the flock for one roo, my girls are too much of pets to sit back and watch them struggle.

Rooster sent to "Death Row" - now Coc au vin!

I hope I'm not intruding on this conversation but I also have a 8 month old Easter Egger roo who has been a great bird until last week. He has tried to kill 2 of our hens, one a Speckled Sussex and the other is a Buff Orp both are very mild birds probably on the bottom of the pecking order. He...

8-week Easter Egger "pullet" - is it actually? *Updated 10-week pics pg 3 - Boy or girl?*

Gravy's as red as she was a few weeks back and still nothing has changed in her coloring she's just gotten a lot bigger! I'm going to try and take some pics and post them here, they look so much alike it's freaky.

8-week Easter Egger "pullet" - is it actually? *Updated 10-week pics pg 3 - Boy or girl?*

When I first read this posting I thought someone had came by the house and took pictures of my "Gravy", looks identical to mine, I've not taken pics for a few weeks because nothing has changed much but she/he is 12 weeks also, I'm voting girl for yours and for mine!!!! Gravy's comb is...

Early EE Pics, **UPDATED PICS July 25th 7.5 weeks old now*****

The Del's were my daughters birds, I wish they were not so mean but what I've read is the hatchery type ones get that way sometimes but breeders flock rarely do. Gidget was 1.5 years old, the best bird you could ever have, she is already missed..... I'm done with hatchery stock, from now on...

Both are really looking like girls to me, I thought maybe I'd see a coloring change in one but the older they get it seems both may turn out to be girls? I have 3 Partridge Rocks, great birds but way to broody for me, unless you want to raise chicks all the time I would not this breed again...

Early EE Pics, **UPDATED PICS July 25th 7.5 weeks old now*****

Here are the new pics from the weekend, my laptop broke so I'm just now getting them online. They both still look girly to me, combs still small and flesh colored, Gravie's continues to be more pink but only because she/he get's all riled up when we grab them and take pictures. What do you think?

When Can I Move Them In With The Rest of the Flock?

Freechicken! I'm in the same boat as you, I have 2 8 week olds with their mother that I'd like to move in with my 1.5 year olds but I'm not convinenced yet they may endure harm by doing so. Mommy bird is so ready to get away from these 2 and she has begun laying eggs again and would like to be...

EE babies.... Take a look please and tell me if I'm right on the genders.

Good luck, I've been posting my 2 for 6 weeks now and still unsure, I'd say the first is coloring in as a roo but way too early to tell, each week the color and patterns change on these chicks, so 50/50 you have a roo

    Speckled sussex pullet/cockerel

Thanks for those pictures, much better! I still see nothing that confirms a roo yet, I don't have a roo SS but I'll attach another photo of one of ours with a crazy tail and she has the green iridescent feathers, so don't freak out because of that. After looking at the new pics, unless he/she...

    Speckled sussex pullet/cockerel

Pictures are quiet blurry, but the comb is not that big, here are pics of mine at 7 weeks and full grown, she has huge wattles and comb but lays nice brown eggs. Stance is suspisious, but I would not confirm roo just by the red comb, but I'm leaning roo for his/her stance and legs.

I know, these little chicks change my mind I think each day! The picture does show more red for Gravie then it should, I think it's my photo program, but she/he does get pinkish when aggitated or when you have to chase around the farm to get a good picture!! I'll post again this weekend...

Early EE Pics, **UPDATED PICS July 25th 7.5 weeks old now*****

6 weeks old now and no major changes, combs are still non existant and flesh colored, Biscuit seems to be keeping her/his color pattern and Gravie has no red and continues to have a nice pattern. Any more guesses?
