I found this egg in the middle of my backyard.
I live in the suburbs and can figure out what this is and how it got there.
One of my chickens eggs on the left for scale.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
Yes she is inside. Her crop feels empty.i don't have poultry nutridrench at the moment. I syringed some gatorade. I tried egg, sunflower seeds, moistened bread, and moistened chicken food. I felt beneath her and she does not feel bloated. I didn't check inside for an egg since this started...
My 2 year old Speckled Sussex stopped eating yesterday afternoon.
She is just standing. She will walk or run if necessary. She doesn't seem hunched and her tail is up like normal.
I have not been able to see one of her poops. Trying to get her to go on a paper towel.
Her crop just feels empty. I...
My second dud, Wellie. Although I am still holding out hope that she is not a permanent dud like Goldie. She is 31 weeks old. No squatting, no interest in the nesting box...she LOOKS like she is close doesn't she?
This is Goldie, 3.5 years old. She has never laid an egg. She has squatted for me since she was a couple months old. She still goes to the nesting box and goofs off for an hour or so, and comes out singing! I don't think she realizes that the other chickens are actually doing something when they...
Thanks everyone for the responses!
I really thought they would go at them like crazy and if they were too big they would get caught in their crop.
Well...turns out I didn't need to worry...
Only Speckles gave them a look...the rest weren't interested at all...so spoiled...i put the rest in...
I read that chickens like pumpkin seeds, so when my work had a pumpkin carving contest I took home a bunch. To me they look HUGE. Will they pick through and just eat the small ones? Will it cause problems if they eat the big ones?
Thanks!
Thanks everyone for your responses. I really appreciate it.
I will try to be patient.
I make sure she has eaten before roost time by hand feeding her moistened chicken food. I feed her until she wanders away.
I have 3 waters and 2 feeders, for 6 chickens, hopefully that is enough.
The 2 that...
I feel kinda silly even asking. I know she will when she is ready, but still...
She is a Wellsummer and is 27 weeks now. The other 2 that I got at the same time have both been laying for several weeks.
I also have 3-three year old hens. She is a little smaller than the others, and I think the...
She is 8 now, I think we got her right when they started getting popular. She does give the hives a wide berth, but still tries to paw and eat the ones that fall to the ground!
