Help With Freestanding Roost for Roosters

Hi. I just put up a 9x12x6' high pen for a bachlelor pad and need help with a design for the roost. This will only be for roosters. It will have to be freestanding. Are there considerations when housing roosters together? Do you have design reccomendations?

Day 22 Detached Air Cell Help

Update. I found this super article. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/guide-to-assisted-hatching-for-all-poultry.72886/ I opened the shell over the air cell. I can see the yolk has not been absorbed and I thought I saw some movement but it just may be the coffee. Likely lost her but I...

Day 22 Detached Air Cell Help

I just started Day 22 and I'm already amazed I got several to hatch from this shipped batch with saddle air cells. But I had 1 that was completely detached and reattached on the side about Day 5. It seemed to develop fine and at days 19 and 20 it was wiggling around. No pip. All the others have...

Ideas for protecting against hawks WITHOUT covering your run

Of the hawk attacks I've witnessed they swoop under the trees and sit in them waiting for another chance. The chickens normally go for nearest cover and will sit there a good hour or more after an attempted attack. Normally they try in the morning. But today at 1:30 I had an attack right after I...

    Automatic door recommendations?

I'm going to be the odd one out. I bought the cheap one and wired it in a few months ago and not had any problems (knocking on wood). The updated Uoxlife (Run Chicken rip off) is now made of metal with a better gear design than the prior model and for $79 I took a chance. I thought if I wired it...

All of a sudden- Aggressive Rooster

My soon to be on the grill roo aims for the head. From behind he gets the legs. But from the side he goes for the head and has jumped high enough to scratch my shoulders and I'm 5.11. I've removed his spurs but his claws still draw blood. A child could lose an eye.

    Opossum - A Deadly Threat

Yes. I am thinking the next one I catch I will call a friend to dispatch. I don't want them breeding and if they grow this big out here they would really damage someone's car. It seems they love to walk the roads. We have enough problems dodging deer.

    Opossum - A Deadly Threat

I can't make myself dispatch them and have a release spot miles from any homes on a river. This one was not the slightest bit afraid of me and I had to roll the trap several times just to get him out. He just strolled off. I was thinking he might have been a pet being so big and unafraid. I knew...

    Opossum - A Deadly Threat

I had a opossum attack Christmas morning that was shocking. After trapping the last opossum that only ate the feed and not seeing any predators on the cameras for a couple months, I felt the risk was low leaving the electric fence off and open while I was on vacation. I was so wrong. Not 10...

My Husky is killing my chickens and ducks, I need help!

I agree with this. After speaking to my neighbor whose husky escaped and killed his chickens and 3 of mine, the training only lasts so long before the carnage starts again. His dog will climb over or dig under everything he's tried. He's currently electrifying the fence. If the dog can't get to...

    Help breaking broody

So she was tossed in the slammer yesterday morning and she did well in the garage last night. She had a lot to say about her accomodations not being to her standards. How long do you think she should be sentenced? 3 days?

    Help breaking broody

She is a ball of fire! Sweet and independent and will chase a wild rabbit or squirrel off if spotted! She's much smaller than I thought she would be, slightly larger than bantam size. And she runs an over exaggerated one foot in front of the other like models walk so she was named Cindy Crawford...

    Help breaking broody

I was thinking that right after I posted. I have an animal trap I can put her in and carry her in and out of the garage. The coop is much too small. Here's a pic with an opossum I've been trying to trap.

    Help breaking broody

My little svarthona has gone broody at the ripe age of 27 weeks. She hasn't been laying that long so I was slow to realize this. Today is her 3rd day and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I wouldn't have a problem putting her in broody jail. But it will drop in the 20s in a couple days and I...
