    The Incubator Thread

I have a Janoel 48 and after a few weeks of testing temp and humidity! I hatched my first batch with no issues. I know some have had trouble with them vut mine ran flawlessly. Think it is about testing, testing, testing and seeing what the ranges are on your particular brand.

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

So it looks like they are sorting this out themselves. A couple days agomthere was fresh blood spots on the paper towel...a couple chicks had blood on the toes. I am betting they pecked them off themselves. Today only one is left woth the cement balls-- all the others are clean. Moved them to...

Best Incubators - Review your favorite!

I recently purchased a Janoel8-48. Read a lot of conflicting reports on it but I ran it empty for a month checking temp and humidty display with two other devices to determine accuracy.. Easily controlled humidity and temp. The only thing That would make me like it more is an easier way to...

At the moment just paper towel as they are in the shower stall of my spare bathroom. I use an Ecobrooder and it requires ambient temp of 50degrees so still too cold to put it outside. They are 6-8 days old today.

So I have one chick significantly smaller than the others and I think damaged legs from coming out of shell. The other 9 are fat, fluffly and feeding like crazy. I have watched some videos in fixing splay leg and gave that a try but the chick just flopped over and wouldnt move. Have decided to...

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Well, pretty sure it was mold and not scoby. They are absolutley gulping down the ff so I don't think there is any issue....ofther than the clumps of ff on their toes making them look like they have frog feet! One even seems to have layed in it and her breast down is all matted. Tried to wash...

So, I am starting my chicks off right on fermented feed....they are loving it! However, this morning Inwent to fill up the feeder and there was mold on the top of the feed.
