Actual Correct Dosage for Safeguard Dewormer for Chickens

The last time I had to dose individually, I would wrap the hen in a towel and sit with her between my legs. My legs controlled her moving while I had 2 free hands to open the beak and squirt. Still not ideal, but it worked for me.

Actual Correct Dosage for Safeguard Dewormer for Chickens

Problem is I'm guessing based on the Amprolium not working. Still has the diarrhea with the yellowish stuff. Thanks for the info!

Anyone in CT that knows a good avian Vet

I really appreciate the kind words. I'm driving the wife crazy and I'm thinking I'm going crazy. I'm 0 for 2 with rehabs on 2 birds I took in. Granted I knew nothing the first time and not much the second time.

    Corid dosing for Cocciodiosis

Damn, just realized there was a follow up dose. I was going to ask if it's possible that I would have to redose, and got my answer. Still having the weird diarrhea with some improvement in motion and lethargy. She eats like a monster and I figured it's because the other girls bully her. Redoing...

Actual Correct Dosage for Safeguard Dewormer for Chickens

So if I wanted to treat 4 hens approx 5 lbs (silver laced and blue laced red Wyandottes), what would be the calculation for 2 qts of water? I'm great at math but didn't do well with chemistry and conversions, lol.

Thanks for the kind words and the link. What I'm looking for is people that have had good experiences and recommendations.

    Yellow watery diarrhea (picture included)

I treated my girls with the amprolium and still nothing. I just started another week long dose yesterday. The one that bullies her the most has the same poop on and off, but is healthy, other than being a spaz

    Yellow watery diarrhea (picture included)

Chickens are pets if you care this much. Most people that just want eggs or meat will cull the sick chickens so it doesn't spread. I believe the concrete poop is indictive of a disease. I want to say cocciodiosis, but don't quote me. Have you tried a cycle of amprolium (Corid). I got mine from...

Anyone in CT that knows a good avian Vet

Sorry, not sure if this is the place to post. I had a bad experience when I took my girl to Pieper in Middletown. Was told that I would probably have to put her down if she didn't get better soon, and she's still kicking 3 years later. Granted, every year since she's had the lame leg problem...

At least she has some comfort in a friend even though she is sick. My girl is getting beat on by all because she is sickly. Good luck and sounds like you gave her a good life!

    Coccidiosis?

I'm sorry this must be heartbreaking. One of my girls is sick with Coccidiosis and it's killing me. Good luck, and remember you gave her a good life whatever happens
