Free ranging next to a corn field?

I have the same question. My layers co-op is sort of built onto the barn so there's only an electric fence to keep the horses in. But it is also next to a corn/bean field that I do not own. They already like to go onto the edge of the field to eat any corn or bugs they find but am worried once...

UPDATE: She died. I found her dead when I went to let them out of the Hen house this morning. I'm not sure what happened to my poor girl but she will be very missed

    Quail trouble

I posted a while back about a quail being really skinny all of a sudden. She was eating and drinking water and all, she was just a lot skinnier than she was the night before. Well she isn't doing any better. She isn't very active anymore, sits in one spot with her feathers ruffled but will move...

    Quail trouble

She does not seem to be getting any better. She is lighter than air at this point, doesn't seem to have much energy as she doesn't run from me when I try to pick her up and doesn't run around with the others. She does move to a new spot every once in a while but mostly sits in one spot with her...

    Pecking

He's fine with the others, she's the only one being picked on, which I find a little weird. I'm just starting out with raising quail so I'm not very experienced at all. They are coturnix and I plan on moving them to an outdoor chicken coop very soon. Just waiting for a warmer day. I do know that...

    Pecking

I have 4 quail at the moment, 2 of which came together when I got them. I am having issues with those 2 at the moment. One is a rooster and the other is a hen. Rooster has now started bullying the Hen ,like they've been finfine since I got them up until now. There was a small gash next to her...

    Quail have not hatched yet

Yes. I helped them both out on Tuesday and this is them currently. 2 very tiny babies. Temp in brooder is just under 100°, probably about 95ish° by now. They know where food and water is. As for the third, it did not make it. I assume it suffocated. The pip hole did look like it closed from...

They should gave hatched last night .Around 9pm central time was the 24 hour mark. The light egg keeps pushing it's beak out of the pip hole ,the other one tries to kick out. Just wondering if I should wait a bit longer to see if they make any more progress or try to help them at this point

I have 2 quails that have pipped over 24 hours ago and still have not hatched. They have made progress yesterday and I can see them breathing and trying to kick and peck their way out but have not made much progress overnight. Should I help them or continue to wait? This is my first time...

pipping but not hatching, need the experts help

I have 2 that pipped over 24 hours ago. They made good progress yesterday but have not made much since then. I see them breathing and hear them peeping and do see them pecking and kicking at the already loose shell. I know this may not be helpful, and I'm not sure about you but it does make me...

    Baby quail in the incubator

Help! I've got a simple small egg incubator with at least 3 baby quail pipping. I know they are supposed to stay in the incubator until they are dry or overnight. Is that still possible with this kind of incubator?
