That sounds exciting. When is hatch day? I'd love to see some pictures of them. Been super busy here. Working on integration of 6 teenagers into the big coop with original 6 hens. Not as easy as I thought it was going to be. I have a couple ringleader bullies who are making it take longer. Had...

Topic of the Week - Adding New Chickens to the Flock

I'm transitioning 6 2 month olds into original 6 hens. It's my first time so I don't have any advice of my own. I've read several threads on this topic and an older topic of the week about this. Someone I can't remember who advised hiding spots in the run. I hadn't thought of this and thought it...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

@tmarsh83 That is awesome. Currently working on it with 2 month olds. Also were in cages. Let them together once and chaos. First time and kinda freaked me out a little. Haven't tried again. I wanted them out of the cages so I barricaded them a corner and my bully barred rock keeps trying to...

@CuzChickens Too funny. My brother raises chickens i just started 7 months ago.Hestopped by a couple days ago. I was showing and telling everything chicken he hadn't seen yet. He said you're in deep gone chicken crazy addicted. Laughed and asked me when I'm getting a bator. As far as money goes...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Good morning Indiana. It poured buckets of rain yesterday. I fell coming in the back door last night after shutting off the chicken light. Too old to be doing that. But anyway did someone say breakfast is ready?

I think that could be a possibility. After considering she is probably a he and not having the white at all. I really don't need 3 or 4 roosters hanging around but I'm curious to see what he ends up looking like. Thanks for your input. Appreciate the opinions and ideas.

It would be awesome to have some quality bred hens. But for him it's not needed because I know he's not going to be a show bird or anything. I'm not sure if I would really want mix him with another breed either. Haven't done any breeding yet but who knows.

I don't know for sure. Definitely some buff hens for sure. I want to see those fluffy booties walking around.

Oh no. That's crazy because I am far from an expert but I've been paying close attention to what I've raised so far. Comparing development and behavior and such. Just today looking at "her" I was thinking "she" was looking gender confused. And stands too tall. Oh I was ignoring my instincts. I...

Guess I won't be getting my buff hen this year. I said I wasn't buying anymore this year. I didn't really want another rooster either but now we've bonded with saving his life and all. Looks I'm planning coop 3 this summer. He'll probably need his own flock...chicken math strikes again.

Yes I was just about to say that's the exact theory I'm going with on this one. Thanks for your thoughts.

She doesn't that's part of what was throwing me off. I'm not very experienced but I have a pair of 2 month old Australorps a female and a male I believe. They both still have the white here and there. Other than that and the odd shape of tips on certain feathers she looks a lot like the pullet did.
