    New coop/ run shelter

I had to come on here to just brag about this new shelter I constructed for the chickens! It may have taken 6 hours and 400 zip ties lol but it’s built and it’s SECURE! No predators are getting in here! Next steps are to continue trimming the zip ties and to lay down rock or something on around...

Leaving my chickens for ~4-5 days

Hi, I got my chicks in January of this year so they’re about 7 months old and laying. I am leaving for a long weekend and don’t know what to do with the chickens. I have nobody to come let them out in the morning/ lock them up at night. I’ve researched auto doors to install but don’t want to...

Transition from brooder to outside coop

Thanks! How do I know when they’re full size? How many weeks usually is that? Will they be ok living in here full time until then? Hoping you can get an idea of their size through the pic!

Transition from brooder to outside coop

Hi, I live in Austin, TX. We just recovered from a cold spell and now temps are in the 60s and 70s during the day, and low 40s at night. My chicks are 5-6 weeks old and I am ready to move them to their coop outside. What is the best way to do so? I’ve read that I should lock them in the coop...

5-6 week old chicks, can they survive 30 degrees outside?

I decided to bring them in, back to the brooder without a lamp. It’s 32 F right now and it’s noon. I didn’t want to risk them getting sick! I will put them back out in the coop in about a week when temps go back to the 40s-50s. Since I live in Texas, I don’t think we will be having many more...

5-6 week old chicks, can they survive 30 degrees outside?

Haha I’m in Austin, TX. They’ve adjusted great from inside to outside the last 2 days with temperatures ranging from mid 50s to mid 80s. But we are expecting a cold front this next week or so that will drop temps to the 30s.

5-6 week old chicks, can they survive 30 degrees outside?

Hi! I am a new chicken owner and have had my 4 chicks inside for the past 5 weeks and moved them outside 2 nights ago. They’ve been in the coop because the weather has been great. However, now it is supposed to drop to the low 30s. Are they ok in the coop outside? Or do they need to come inside...
