It looks like its knitted. If it is and one wire breaks, depending on the tension its at and the memory of the wire itself, it would easily weaken and split. Think of runs in pantyhose. (Did I just date myself? Does anyone even wear pantyhose anymore?)
This particular heater states not to use an extension cord with it. I think someone here in the forums did and it actually shorted out and melted the base of the waterer.
As to refilling it, I've had between 4 and 9 chickens total and never have to refill it every day. I usually go out to the...
NEPA here, will you have electric out to the coop for winter?
I use a 3 gallon heated water from Premeir1 and love it for all year round. I just fill a gallon jug or two from the house and carry it out to the coop to dump in the waterer. We do have electric out at the coop so winter isn't a...
I'm actually planning out a garden hoop trellis, but the constraints are similar. I actually want a low height because I'm short and will need to be able to reach the cucumbers planned for this to pick them!!
I know I saw a calculator or maybe a infographic on how tall/short a hoop coop could be made depending on how wide you make the base.
I'm drawing blanks trying to search the forums for it tho.
Anyone got it bookmarked?
I’m in northeastern Pennsylvania. In town, tho sorta close to the edge.
We also see domestic feral cats, stray dogs, skunks, possums, foxes, raccoons on the camera and hear coyotes at night.
We call this the nightly roost rumble. I have a mixed bag of 2 and 1 year old hens. And a single 6 foot roost over a poop board. Six of the hens smoosh together in a nightly random order on the actual roost and one single hen perches on the lip of the poop board even tho there’s quite often...
I did the second treatment of ivermectin this past Tuesday. It doesn’t seem like the affected chickens are getting any worse. And I see some pin feathers coming in here or there. So fingers crossed….
I personally won’t consider myself out of the woods until this fall’s molt and everyone has...
I got this hardware cloth for my run because it states it's galvanized and PVC coated.
Is it really both? I don't know. But no signs of rust in the 1.5 years it's been up.
I have seven hens in this set up. The shed is 8'x12' divided in half, so the chickens have access to 8'x6'. The run is 8'x12'.
I'm still having issues with maybe mites causing feather damage, maybe feather picking by the hens. Im trying to cover both possibilities by treating all for mites and...
