Beginner questions
Well at almost 4 months old I think we're going to get eggs soon. Just spotted Jay mounting Sam in the pond . Will have to keep an eye open for a nest I think. They've just finished their teenage moult. -
what's the smallest duck pond I can get away with?
Heck, 2 ducks make a kiddie pool pretty mucky in a day. I have to empty and rinse every morning and scrub every second day as it gets algae growth from all the nutrients they're dropping in there. I'd love a deeper proper pond, but we don't have the room unfortunately. -

I just thought I'd do a quick report. As of yesterday my ducks are now free range and the lawn is getting covered in little piles of duck poop. My DH keeps forgetting to close the gate so I'm hoping they don't disappear, but I keep checking so hopefully all will be well. They're a little... -

Glad I found this thread, my 9 week old ducks have just started losing feathers so I wanted to check if it was a molt. Seemed a bit early to me, they'll be 10 weeks old on Thursday and they're big! -

Thanks for that, we're reasonably predator free here in NZ, but we do have a lot of local cats! Already had a couple sitting on the lawn licking their chops:rolleyes:. I always have water in the cage when there's food, that gets changed more often. I'll have to check where to get shavings...
