    Converting to nipple system waterer

When I converted I just replaced the old watering system with the new buckets with nipples, no problems, they took right to the new nipples. I did push the nipples in, letting them run a few drops of water out for the chickens to see and left a drop on them so the chickens would get the idea.

You do have beautiful roosters. I like Mace's full breast and the way his back flows smoothly into his tail, unlike Gunnar's that has the squirrel tail going on. Those are nice looking blue based roos too. It would appear you have the right hens paired to the right roosters. If you ever have...

    Swedish Flower Hen Thread

I kind of addressed this in my previous post, but I thought of something else, so I thought I would reply to this post. When breeding registered stock, such as cattle, you are allowed to use other breeds to bring in a certain trait that you want. But you had to register each cross and the...

I would agree with what you have to say. It would seem Swedish Flowers have been plagued by mixed breed birds being sold as purebred birds. There's a couple auctions on ebay for Swedish Flowers with pics of birds obviously not pure. There are pics all throughout this thread of mixed breed...

Feed & my flock of 14

Start with the 1/4 ounce per day and adjust. If feed is left when you feed the next day, leave a little less feed. If there is not any feed left, feed a little more. Do that until you are satisfied they are getting enough to eat, but aren't wasting any.

    Ant problems

They may eat some, but not enough to make a difference in the ant population.

Did he see you carrying the others around, maybe he just wants a free ride too? I've tried every known remedy anyone has ever suggested. I've gotten the aggressive rooster not to be aggressive to me, I guess he figures out I'm the boss. The problem then is whenever someone new comes over they...

    Managing 2 sets, 1 incubator

Don't have any experience with turkeys, but could you not candle them and when you see they have broke through the airsack move them to the hatcher and quit turning? When I find abandoned chicken eggs, this is what I do.

    rotating rooster- flock genetics

Keep each pen a seperate strain. Keep pullets that are better than mother and mate to father. Keep cockeral that is better than father and mate to mother. After few years of this bring a cock over from the other strain to add diversity and start over.

It's nice when you're able to hatch your own eggs. Good luck with your hatch.
