@howard e covering the run may be an idea, as here in the U.K. It rains most days. Gonna go 12 birds I think. If I want more I'll convert my garage or something. The under the coop section is being covered by removable acrylic panels. So I'll be able to get under if need be. Don't want a mud...
What would you suggest @Howard E regarding the run. I was planning on leaving it open and covered with netting. I can cover it if need be. The space under the coop is sufficient for shelter if need be. I want to setup a compost bin. The ground is just grass patch at the moment. Under the coop is...
Roosting at night. In the run all day. External nest boxes. Using pipe work to make a waterer and feeder which will be off the ground. All the floor space available to the birds. Even in the run all floor space available to birds.
Hi all,
I'm getting different responses from different people regarding my coop and run size. Coop is 7ft by 7ft with a run of 21ft x 7ft
How many birds will this size coop support please?
Looking to keep hybrids i.e. Hylines/Leghorns
I want to keep around 14 birds. 10 hybrids and 3/4 ex battery hens. Do I start with all 14 together or 3 then 4 etc and build up the flick slowly over time.
The picture you see above is no longer the size as I was want at least 10 birds and that won't hold 10 birds. So have made it what you see above x2 joined together.
Pallets have pros and cons. Free and pretty solid but depending on size joining them together and making it solid is a real pain at the moment. My base is all pallets but walls will have to be studded otherwise it will be to heavy.
Hi Everyone,
Living in Birmingham UK. Looking to build my own coop and run. Had in mind around 10 birds. What size would you recommend for coop size for our winters?
Run will be 7ft by at least 13/14ft
Done.
My run will be covered fully. Here in the UK it's mainly wind and rain we have to deal with. We don't get snow as you guys in the states. Coop primary usage just for night
