He ended up leaving the other day with a wild flock of turkeys that were traveling through. I worry about him out there, but, it's not my place to contain him. I wish the guy luck! He was a nice turkey!
The black stuff on his snood is starting to peel off. Like an old scab. I wonder how he got hurt. He's still hanging around. We asked the neighbors, (which even they are like a mile away) no one knows anyone with turkeys. So far he hasn't bothered anyone.
Oh boy. I feel bad for him. Are you definite it's a boy? Maybe my friend will take him if I can't find the owners. I feel bad though, won't someone just kill him and eat him?
This turkey showed up at my house yesterday and made friends with my chickens! She even went into their coop and slept with them. I'm baffled! Had to share!
Can anyone tell me if these look like Bielefelders? I got them from TS in NH, in a unlabeled bin and the workers had no idea. They're big, only about 11-12 weeks old right now and bigger than my older hens, and the Roo, who just started crowing looks identical to the Bielefelder pics...
This is great. How did this pan out for you? My husband and I are incorporating a system like this into our radiant floor heating. We were just thinking the other day why not add a little one for the coop! I see this post is from last year, but just wanted opinion on how that was working. :)
