I had two roosters in a coop that were getting along fine until last week when I had to temporarily remove one to heal a foot problem he has. Now they will not get along at all and I don't have an ideal place to put my other rooster except for my duck pen, where my two drakes live. These guys...
Thanks for the advice. :)
He's still with the other drake all the time, since we just have his little cage placed inside the place the other drake is. They're around each other all the time and my other drake will not leave his side at all! There's lots of room in the pen but he stays right next...
We've had him in a small cage inside our duck pen since it happened so he's been resting it the entire time, we just take him out in the evenings to clean him up and change the bedding. When he's out he's able to move around and get to his food and he's visibly been improving since its occurred...
My duck broke his leg about 5 weeks ago. The break was high up in the leg near the hip so we couldn't splint it. We had his leg bound to his body for 3 weeks and the bone has callused over but he still can't use his foot. He limps on his leg but has no control over his foot and walks on it...
I've decided to try putting one of them back in with his dad and the hens. I've been letting him free range around the coop for the last view hours and his dad is acting dominant and he's shying away. At one point they tried to fight through the chicken wire but then walked away from each other...
they can hear the other roosters when they're crowing but probably not the other hens. They probably started trying to fight today because when I let them out they went over by the hens. They've been in a separate pen since maybe have way through December and the only time they fought when they...
when should I break up a rooster fight/give up on trying to get them to get along? I have two brothers that were born in June. I have them in a separate pen from my other chickens because I had heard roosters usually will get along without any hens around, and they get along for the most part...
How concerned should I be? He cracked a spur off a year or two ago and it didn't trouble him at all. Now he's bloody and limping. :( I soaked it in some non iodized sea salt and put some anti baterial cream on the little stump that's left of his spur.
okay cause i also have a rooster and a couple silkies that haven't laid in years, it would be alright to feed starter to them as well? my only laying hens are in a separate coop
