I cleaned out the nesting boxes and tons of earwigs came crawling out. NASTY! I don't know if my chickens are eating them or not. (I only have 2) But it kind of grosses me out that there are so many of them where the chickens sleep and where they will be laying eggs. The nesting boxes were dry...
Mine are just about 8 weeks and I am so ready to have them outside. I read and heard that at 8 weeks they should be good to sleep outside as long at the weather doesn't get very cold. I'm not sure on that, so don't quote me on that. I'm still trying to figure that out for mine.
Thank you everyone! Now that you've clued me in on what they both are it makes so much more sense! I was wondering about my roo's blue/grey legs and white tail feathers.... they didn't match what I thought he was, but Sebright explains it! Thank you!!!!
My brother brought home a couple bantam chicks about 6 weeks ago. We didn't know breed or exactly how old they were. My guess is they are 6-7 weeks old. I believe that one is a roo, and the other is a pullet. The one i believe is a roo (Clarke) is way more friendly and curious about...

As for yours being sick...
I have cats also. Our chicks are about 6-7 wks now. Our cats haven't been around them much, but one of them does like to come watch them and see what all the chirping is.... I only let her for a minute or so as long as i am right there with them. But I am worried that once they are outside...
