    Hi, I breed Silkies and mixed breeds. In my experience it makes no difference if a Rooster is mixed or purebred silkie, still very hard to rehome. Hens are different most people are happy to just have a friendly egg layer.

    Hi, can I have some help sexing two Silkies. My guess is they are both Cockrells, only reason I'm doubting is they are yet to crow as a mixed breed chicken same age has been crowing for a few weeks now. All help appreciated, thanks

    Vet said its most likely Fowl Pox & theres no treatment or cure. They are going to quarantine them away from the 3 adult hens. They are 3 weeks old and about 7 of them. Some will survive & some won't. Very sad, I'm super thankful my 16 chickens are not infected..

    New to BYC 2nd year Chicken owner

    Hi everyone, I am new to BYC, I love chickens & own mostly Silkies. I have arount 16 at the moment but would love all breeds & many of them. I am definitely an animal lover & get immeasurable joy from being surrounded by them. I appreciate all help & hope to be able to contribute myself.

    Yes we do get Mosquitos here but only the bubs are effected. Mum & 2 other Bantams who were there first show no signs. All my chickens have never had anything like this. The 2 bubs I picked up to photograph did not smell.

    My neighbors got a bantam Plymouth Rock hen & bubs from local markets 3-4weeks ago & they are showing signs of problems. I have taken photos of a couple of them but all bubs seem to be infected. Any knowledge, insight or help would be greatly appreciated.
