Quick update before I head for bed.
My husband just got home from work a half hour ago and woke it up by talking to it and petting it with his finger... and the lil guy just started eating and drinking.
It's almost 11pm now and I have literally spent all day(since 8am) up close and personal...
I went and got some nutri-drench and a thing of chicken vitamins that has the riboflavin and b vitamin.
Fed it a little bit of nutridrench straight... now am giving it water with the vitamins.
Hopefully it starts acting more lively. I don't have a whole lot of hope though.
It literally will not walk or peck at anything. It takes 2 steps then rests and even when its resting and crumbles of food are around it, it wont peck at anything.
I've dipped its beak in the water several times, I've tried mixing the chick starter with water and tried to hand feed it but it...
I've been doing my best but so far it doesn't seem to be improving.
I was just kinda wondering if maybe it is deformed and I'm battling a more serious health issue that I may not be able to win.
I've had other lethargic chicks and been able to nurse them to health relatively quickly but this...
I just got this golden laced wyandotte chick yesterday from Family Farm and Home. Its lethargic... wont eat or drink on it's own. So I've been hand feeding it egg yolk and hand watering water with electrolyte and probiotics mix.
Anyway I noticed this chicks body is significantly shorter than...
Now 4 weeks old. I'm pretty sure Tweety is a cockerel, same with Shadow. Redbull and Tootsie I think are pullets(both their combs are still small and yellow and they don't have waddles).
I'm assuming Shadow and Tootsie are some kind of black marans... but I don't really know.
They both have...
I'm totally planning on updating as they get older.
The reasons I think Tweety is a boy are:
- comb is starting to turn pink at the base(I watched some videos of buff orpington chicks and it seemed like the males had a red/pink comb much sooner than the females... but idk)
- The ridges in the...
I have 4 chicks(from TSC) that are almost 3 weeks old(like 3 days away). I know its probably too early to know for shizz but there's 2(Shadow and Tweety)I'm pretty certain are boys... 1 I'm certain is a girl(Tootsie) and the other I just don't know(Redbull).
Also... Shadow and Tootsie were...
She took a massive poop and immediately started running around with the other chicks and I just caught her eating some crumbles. I think she's gunna be okay. Gunna watch her super closely though.
I didn't put out a separate thing of plain water... I can do that though. She did just start drinking out of the regular waterer with the chicken Elixir stuff in it with the other chicks so it looks like she's making a tiny bit of progress there. Still didn't eat anything though.
I don't know...
