She is a Barred Plymouth Rock. About 5 months old. Her litter mate of the same breed has started laying, but I do not believe this girl is laying yet. Her comb and wattles aren’t totally developed yet, rather small... and she is not doing the “chicken squat” when I pet her like the other laying...
Yes, the two went missing together. The other one is still MIA. I’m pretty lucky to have found one. Chances are slim she’s still around, but I suppose crazier things have happened.
Now that I found one of my lost girls... where in the heck has she been for the last week? It seems so odd that she wouldn’t come home to roost if she was perfectly okay!? She is young, about 5 months and not yet laying (but close). Did she just get lost?? We had only been letting them out for a...
You were right! Miracles DO happen!!! Today, 1 week later, my neighbor called me. One of my chickens was hanging out with her horses!!! So fat and happy. I can’t believe I got one back. Thank you so much for the encouragement!

I am so happy for you!!! Today I walked the densely wooded fence line I last saw them, calling and looking under everything to see if I saw a glimpse of them. Nothing. Today has been 3 nights and living in the country leaves me little hope that they’ve survived the nightly predators around here...
I am so sorry to hear about your missing girl as well. It’s amazing how they just vanish without a sound or commotion. I hope she comes home! I have pretty much accepted that my girls are gone. I saw them wandering off way too far and I should of intervened. A lesson learned the hard way.
Thank you! I do feel fortunate to get some of them back. I’ve been walking the woods and fields and have yet to find anything. Our other neighbors also have a coop off in the distance and checked to see if they decided to take refuge there instead, but they were not around. We had waited until...
Hi! First post here! This year we decided to get into the chicken hobby and it’s been quite a fun (and sad) adventure. My pullets have (or are close) to reaching egg laying maturity. They had been spending all their time in their coop and attached run. We live in the country on 5 acres, and...
