Hello, So I have a hen I just can not figure out what is going on. Details: She is a Lavender Orpington and she is 10 months old. She does have the shredder feather gene, but recently something is very off and I can’t figure it out. Her feathers look like they are matted, she does have a...

    Newly Laying Easter Egger

Only about 30 minutes at the end of the day, because of time change. So I don’t believe she is hiding eggs. We live in South Texas where this weather is still all over the place.

Thank you, that makes me feel better. Haven’t seen signs of any kind of sickness, so adjustment is what I’m going with. Thanks again!

    Newly Laying Easter Egger

Haven’t seen that at all yet. Hoping she is just still adjusting. She is the only hen I have than never quite seemed ready to lay or that she would, other than her feat ur es maturing. She isn’t acting down or having issues, so hoping she is ok.

    Newly Laying Easter Egger

Yes she has free choice to calcium and I have them on a mix of All Flock and Layer pellets. I have them laying on the laying straw pads from Amazon. I have never seen any yolk so I don’t think she would be eating them. How do you determine if they are? Would you see yolk?

    Newly Laying Easter Egger

Then the next day her blue egg came out perfect. That was over 12 days ago and she hasn’t laid again. Should I be worried...

It is two 10ft retriever kennels together with shade cloths and tarps on the top. The sun shifts where they are so half will be shaded and then the other...

Hen Laying Soft Eggs For A Month Straight

Would you suggest a D3 vitamin or more antibiotic? The only reason I am against an antibiotic is because I just treated them 50 days ago with one from a vet for an upper respiratory infection. She didn’t really show signs other than wheezing, but I treated my whole flock. Unless that...

Hen Laying Soft Eggs For A Month Straight

Hello, I have a Cinnamon Queen hen, a little over a year I believe (bought her already laying) that has laid soft eggs for over a month now. I am at a loss on what could be wrong with her. Has anyone else dealt with this? Few things: - yes she has layer feed, mixed with all flock feed since I...
