After years of moving around with the military, we finally bought the farm... obviously not by dying. But I've lost a lot of chickens here in paradise... for disease, parasites, and predators. It's more like hell for chickens. So I brushed off my Clinical Lab Scientist skills and bought a microscope to do fecal exams, read every scientific study I can find in my rare moments of spare time, work on improving coop and run security between deluges, and patrol with my shotgun in case all other security measures fail. If I didn't love my chickens too much to give up, I would. But I love genetics, breeding projects, and pretty much everything about chickens, so every attempt at downsizing ends up in classic chicken math...more chickens. My broody hens conspire to keep the flock going no matter what!
